Male General Ward at GGH

MUMN is writing to your office regarding the Male General ward in GGH. This is a ward with 32 patients, which besides being an admitting ward for acute patients admits also covid cases in their single room. Such ward should have a staff complement of at least 4 nurses during the night shift if not five nurses when such ward has covid cases.
The Nursing management must assure that every night shift 4 nurses need to be present in the Male General ward so that all patients are taken care of in the proper way. Therefore, an effort to reach such compliment has to be made if the ward nurses fail to apply for overtime.
While the nursing management is to assure such compliment of 4 nurses, MUMN is issuing a directive that any nurse who works in Male General ward and wants to work overtime in his own ward can do so with the backing of MUMN. All nurses working in the male General ward and opts to work overtime in Male General ward should have the right to retain his ward even when on overtime.

Nurses at Gozo Primary Health Care Victoria are being taken for a ride on an issue which MUMN had clarified with Theresa Runza.
All BLOOD LETTINGS IS TO BE DONE BY APPOINTMENTS.
But this morning MUMN is informed that purposely, the list is not given to the nurses as not to know the appointment list. The appointment list is currently only present at the reception where before it use to be given also to the nurses.
Therefore, with Immediate effect, stop all blood letting immediately since this is a cat and mouse game is being played only in Gozo. Unless the list is not given to the nurses, the nurses will not resume bloodletting.
To All Nurses working in E/A department In Gozo General Hospital

MUMN was informed that doctors in the E/A department are imposing that all blood letting and canulation is to be done by the nurses working in the E/A. This goes beyond the duties of the nurses in the E/A department since cannulation and blood letting is only to be done in the pre-hospital care when Hypoglycaemia case (or in other urgent medical conditions) is being detected. Directives in GGH regarding Meal Allowances

MUMN Council made several attempts to provide the same meal allowance given to the Healthcare workers in Malta to the Health care workers working in GGH, SLH and KGH. MUMN tried to organise a meeting where all stake holders will be around a table to finalize the new tariffs of the meal allowances. Directive to all Nurses working in GGH re Orthopaedic cases

The Health Ministry and Steward have invested in the setup of an orthopaedic ward in GGH. Such investment was also done by the Directorate of Nursing in the Health Ministry by providing two batches of nurses from Malta to Gozo so that for the first time GGH will have a dedicated ward specifically for orthopaedic care.
